On August 21, 2015, the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal granted a writ application filed by The Monson Law Firm attorneys Sarah Murphy Barro and Laura Abel, ruling that the Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation’s policy did not provide insurance coverage for the plaintiff’s claims. In the case of “Michelle Petsch v. Geanne Petsch, Peter Petsch and Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation,” plaintiff, the daughter of the insured, lost several toes while operating a lawnmower on her parents’ premises. Plaintiff claimed that she was a resident of another premises. The Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal overturned the trial court’s denial of Lighthouse’s Motion for Summary Judgment, holding that because plaintiff also maintained a residence at her parents’ property, she was an insured under the policy and her claims were excluded from coverage.
